Kitchen Palette

Warm Neutrals

This palette is a special one to me because it’s the kitchen in our home! Trends in home design are moving toward warmer wood tones and paint colors. We knew we wanted hardwood floors and wood cabinets which can be tricky, so we went with a warm, dark grey painted cabinet for the lowers to create some separation and then made sure that the uppers had similar warm tones to the floors. This also made it easier to mix the beautiful graining of the oak floors with the more uniform grain of the maple cabinets.

Because we had contrast in the cabinets we opted for a more neutral countertop and backsplash. The subtle mix of polished and frosted glass in the backsplash brings sparkle and detail. We also intentionally chose a family of lighting (we’ll talk about that in the next blog) that mixed wrought iron and brass, this gave us the ability to use both finishes throughout, including the cabinet hardware and furniture finishes. . Mixing materials adds interest and creates a curated, eclectic look.

Also, as an Interior Designer I’m SO over the cool greys, they had their moment but it’s time to warm things up! So, for our wall paint we actually went with a cool beige, I wouldn’t really call it a greige because it skews more tan, but isn’t super warm either. The color is Sherwin Williams Canvas Tan, we used it throughout our home. I just love the warmth it brings so I definitely recommend making the shift and bringing some warmth back into your home!
